The 1st INSO

Objectives

The primary objective of the First International Nuclear Science Olympiad (1st INSO) in the Philippines is to showcase the country’s commitment to advancing nuclear education and fostering international cooperation in the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology.

  • Showcase the Philippines Expertise in Nuclear Science

    To highlight the capability of our local nuclear S&T experts in developing the Olympiad’s theoretical and experimental problems and solutions and supervising the competition. 

  • Facilitate Strategic Partnerships

    To establish collaborative partnerships between the Philippines and international scientific institutions and businesses for knowledge exchange and capacity building in nuclear science and technology, with a specific emphasis on showcasing the country’s researchers, both men and women, to the global community.  

  • Provide a Platform for Establishing Sustainable Networks

    To provide a platform for international nuclear education networks to showcase their programmes to the 1st INSO participants and guests thereby creating potential long-term networks among international and national scientific and trade/business organizations.

INSO Aims

The aim of INSO is to increase awareness of the peaceful applications of Nuclear Science and Technology. Alongside, it also intends to:

  • Popularize knowledge and understanding of nuclear science and technology (NST) to improve the nuclear scientific approach towards its uses and applications.

  • Enhance the interest in NST among secondary school students.

  • Improve teaching of NST at the secondary school level.

  • Stimulate activities for interested students by way of independent and creative solutions for NST problems.

  • Promote international contacts and facilitate cordial relations.

  • Motivate participants to pursue NST professions.

  • Stimulate the founding and organization of National Nuclear Science Olympiads in the participating states.

IAEA Support

The IAEA supports its Member States in the establishment of INSO and subsequent activities towards piloting the International Nuclear Science Olympiad competition within the scope of IAEA TC Project RAS0091 Strengthening Nuclear Science Education at Secondary and Tertiary Level.

Committees

The Steering Committee is the body assisting Olympiad organizers and coordinating efforts for future Olympiads.
