Frederick C. Hila is currently serving as a Science Research Specialist II from the Applied Physics Research Section at the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. He completed his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from De La Salle University Manila and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he is also pursuing his PhD. Frederick has had the opportunity to develop computational software that has found use in various parts of the world and is presently working on Monte Carlo codes for particle transport simulations of radiation detection materials. He has made contributions to the fields of nuclear physics, radiation science, and materials engineering, which have led to several papers, intellectual properties, and new numerical approaches. His interests lie in areas such as experimental radiation measurements, particle transport, nuclear computational methods, materials characterization, computational fluid dynamics, structural stress analysis, and uncertainty estimation.
