Ms. Bin Jeremiah D. Barba is a Science Research Specialist II from the Chemistry Research Section of the DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of the Philippines Manila and a master’s degree in Chemistry from the De La Salle University Manila. Her research work primarily involves the radiation processing of polymeric materials, specifically in the utilization of radiation crosslinking and graft polymerization in the development of functional materials for health, industry, and environmental applications. Her past work has led her to develop hemostatic materials from crosslinked polysaccharides were capable of accelerating hemorrhage control in animal studies. This research won the Likha Award during the National Inventions Contest and Exhibits in 2021. Her current work is on the use of radiation technology for green chemistry in the production of sustainable functional materials and the recycling of post-consumer plastics.
