Dr Aman-ur-Rehman is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad, Pakistan. His association with PIEAS spans over 24 years. Currently, He is serving as Head of the Department of Nuclear Engineering. He received his Ph.D from the Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2007. He did his post-doctoral research at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, South Korea from 2009 to 2011. He has experience of developing codes based on fluid and particle-in-cell theories for modeling and simulation of plasma sources. He has broad theoretical background in general physics, and mathematics. He has vast experience of teaching many courses based on advanced mathematics to the MS and PhD students of various departments at PIEAS. He has established research activities in the fields of theoretical plasma physics and reactor physics at PIEAS. Recently, he is leading a team of the Department of Nuclear Engineering involved in the development of in-house neutron diffusion theory based codes using nodal expansion method. In recognition of his outstanding teaching and research contributions, Dr. Rehman has been awarded the PAEC performance Gold Medal. He is also the recipient of the I.H. Usmani Gold Medal from PIEAS. Besides his teaching and research activities, he is also involved in the nationwide activity of National Physics Talent Contest since 2002. Dr. Rehman has been involved both at administrative and mentor level and has represented Pakistan as the national team leader to many countries. He is also in charge of the National Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Careers Program. Under this program Pakistani Teams regularly participate in the International Science Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. Currently he is working as chair of the international jury for the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO). He is also working as Pakistani representative for Asian Network for Education in Nuclear Technology (ANENT).
